- Free from Fluoride
- A mineral that many toothpastes use to strengthen tooth enamel against decay.
- We did not leave fluoride out because it is harmful. It is effective. But babies and toddlers cannot rinse and spit yet, and in the first trimester nausea can make brushing something you rush, so a little paste often gets swallowed. For those moments we chose a formula without fluoride. What we use instead differs by product. The baby and kids toothpaste uses hydroxyapatite, the mineral tooth enamel is mostly made of. The toothpaste for pregnancy uses calcium carbonate and miswak (siwak).
- Free from SLS
- A surfactant that makes soaps, shampoos and toothpastes lather richly.
- Lots of foam feels clean, though the foam itself does little of the cleaning. SLS is one of the surfactants most often reported to irritate skin, and some studies have linked SLS in toothpaste to mouth ulcers in people who get them often. Gums can also feel more tender than usual during pregnancy. So in the products that lather, we use other cleansers.
- Free from Sulfates
- A family of cleansing surfactants that includes SLES.
- They clean very well, and that includes lifting away natural oils that are better left in place. Skin and scalp can feel more reactive during pregnancy, and losing those oils can leave them feeling dry rather than fresh.
- Free from Parabens
- A preservative that keeps bacteria and mould from growing in a product.
- A water-based product needs a preservative, because without one bacteria and mould can grow in it. We chose others, such as 1,2-hexanediol and caprylhydroxamic acid, because many mothers prefer products without parabens during pregnancy, and we can offer that without giving up a working preservative.
- Free from Phthalates
- A plasticiser, sometimes carried into a formula through a fragrance blend.
- Phthalates are rarely listed by name, because they can sit inside a fragrance blend that appears on the label as one word, “fragrance”. We chose not to use them at all, so our ingredient list means what it says.
- Free from Drying alcohol
- Alcohol denat. and similar alcohols, which make a product dry quickly and feel light.
- It can draw moisture out of skin that already dries out more easily in pregnancy. Many women also find their sense of smell sharper in the first trimester, and the smell of alcohol is often named as a trigger for nausea. We mean only this kind of alcohol. Names like cetyl or stearyl alcohol, which you may see in an ingredient list, are fatty alcohols that soften skin rather than dry it. Benzyl alcohol is used as a preservative. Neither is a drying alcohol.
- Free from Triclosan
- An antibacterial ingredient, once common in toothpaste and soap.
- Several countries have restricted its use, and it adds little to an everyday product. When we can leave something out without losing quality, we do.

Di terima dalam keadaan baik.. Kali ke2 beli.. Gigi anak bersih putih guna toothpaste ni.. Recommend..
Dulu memang kena pujuk setiap kali nak gosok gigi, tapi sekarang anak ambil berus sendiri! Dia suka sangat rasa bubblegum ni. Baunya pun wangi lembut, tak terlalu manis. Senang hati tengok dia gosok gigi tanpa merengek macam dulu.
Harganya murah sangat dan memang berbaloi. Jujur cakap, belum sempat cuba lagi sebab baru je sampai, tapi setakat ni puas hati dengan pembelian ni. Nanti saya update kalau dah guna ya mommies.
Memang mudah sekarang nak ajak dia gosok gigi, tak payah paksa-paksa dah.
Anak saya tak suka bau mint, jadi saya cuba yang rasa oren pula. Rupa-rupanya dia suka! Sekarang lagi senang nak gosok gigi dengan dia, tak payah pujuk lama-lama dah. Puas hati.
Baru nak cuba untuk anak, harap-harap sesuai dengan dia. Setakat ni saya memang berpuas hati dengan produk Mama's Choice, selama ni elok je semuanya. Jadi yakin nak cuba yang ni pula untuk gigi dia.
Before and after
Children's teeth before use and on day 14
Photos from two children who brushed twice a day for 14 days.
- The difference to look for is visible plaque on the teeth. Toothpaste does not change the colour of the enamel.

What have Mamas noticed after using it?
See "Children's teeth before use and on day 14" on this page, from users' own photos. 93% of Mamas agreed it helps their child's teeth and gums feel cleaner (Consumer use test 2022, n=28). Results differ from person to person.
What if my child swallows some?
Young children always swallow a little toothpaste, so the amount is what matters: a rice-grain smear for babies from 6 months, and a pea-sized amount from 3 years. Brush for your child until they can spit. The formula is fluoride-free, with a mild taste children like.
Does this product contain fluoride?
No. It is formulated without fluoride and contains xylitol. Regular brushing with this toothpaste may help fight tooth decay. If your dentist recommends a fluoride toothpaste for your child, follow that advice.
